Project Requirements
Required for commercial interior fit-out and architectural millwork featuring exposed multi-ply edge details (cabinet carcasses, open shelving, and custom workstations). Panels must be calibrated 100% solid birch core conforming to B/BB grade with sound, patch-free face veneers suitable for natural clear lacquer. Moisture content 8–12%. Must strictly comply with CARB Phase 2 / EPA TSCA Title VI emission standards and EN 314-2 Class 3 bonding. Delivered flat-packed with protective wrap to prevent site acclimatization defects.
Material Solution
Selected 100% solid birch multi-ply panels for their superior strength-to-weight ratio, structural stability, and warm, uniform visual tone. The dense, calibrated cross-banded core resists warping over long spans while permitting precision CNC machining and exposed, decorative layered edges—eliminating the need for secondary synthetic edge banding. Combined with strict CARB Phase 2 / E1 low-formaldehyde compliance, this material solution delivers an optimal balance of structural performance, contemporary material aesthetics, and indoor environmental safety.
Project Outcome
The project was successfully delivered with high fidelity to the original design intent. The selected 100% birch multi-ply panels performed flawlessly through precision CNC machining, enabling crisp joint details and refined exposed-ply edges without synthetic banding. Installed cabinetry and large-span surfaces demonstrated outstanding flatness, structural rigidity, and zero noticeable warping. The project met all CARB P2 / E1 indoor air emission standards and received unanimous client approval on aesthetic warmth, tactile quality, and execution craftsmanship.
Client Feedback
Client sign-off was achieved with exceptionally positive feedback. The client specifically commended the warm, consistent natural grain and the exposed multi-ply edge detailing, noting it elevated the overall bespoke aesthetic. Both the design and site installation teams noted that the panels showed zero warping across long spans and zero edge-chipping during CNC routing and on-site assembly. The project passed all indoor air safety evaluations with no noticeable odors, and the client expressed strong interest in specifying this exact birch material for future developments.
